Pookode Lake
Pookode Lake has hundreds of visitors every month. A natural freshwater lake nestled amidst lush greenery, it has boating facilities, children’s park, handicraft emporium, a spices’ emporium, and ample eateries in the periphery as well as a temple in its vicinity. The famous Kabani River emanates from this lake as Panamaram rivulet. A curious fact about this river is that it has the shape of the map of India! Spread across 8.5 hectares and having a depth of 6.5 meters, this lake is a nature lover’s delight. A unique species of cyprinid fish known as Pethia Pookodensis can be seen here along with various other species of fresh water fishes. The nearby forest has substantial wild animals including different species of monkeys. The ever-beautiful blue-water lilies surrounding this water body add to the appeal of it.
