Chembra Peak


Chembra Peak is the highest peak in the Western Ghats located 2100 metres above sea-level. Accessible only after attaining permission from the forest officials, trekking through it to the dense forest is immensely exciting. This naturally beautiful locale that encompasses the charm of verdure is a perfect place for trekking. Open on all days, there is a heart-shaped lake atop it, called Hrudaya Thadakam which has never ever dried up even in the worst droughts. A minimum of three hours is required to reach atop Chembra peak. However overnight camping is prohibited by the Forest Department Officials owing to dangerous wildlife threats lurking here. The breathtaking view of Wayanad as well as the nearby districts comprising of Kozhikkode, Malappuram and Nilgiri is a delight to watch. Visits during rainy seasons aren’t recommended owing to slippery slopes. However trekking is allowed year-round
